The most creative and consistent way to memorize God's word!

We need a strong "why" for what we want to do in order to be able to do it. Simply put, having a strong "why" keeps us going even when things are hard. In the area of spiritual practice, a strong "why" could center on what can be done for Christ and others out of love and for God's praise. When things get hard, it doesn't give up. If we have the right reason to do something, it will be easier to do it.

But we should be careful because people can also have a weak "why." We might memorize Scripture because our mom told us to or so we can go play with our friends afterward. In the long run, we won't get very far with a weak "why."

So why is it important to learn Scripture, and why should we take the time to do it? There are a lot of good reasons why Christians should remember, but I'm only going to talk about three of them.

  1. It transforms our thinking to that of Christ
  2. It reveals God’s will and helps us to keep His commandments
  3. Strengthens and encourages us in the faith
