πŸš— Minute 1 - Your fear isn't bad.

What if your fear is not a bad sign but an indication you're doing something right?

Fear is a completely natural emotion, like happiness, anxiety, and anger. You wouldn't look at someone sideways for being anxious about giving a big speech. Yet, when we do new things, face uncertainty, or take risks, we berate ourselves for feeling fear.

Fear has often been associated with failure.

Fear tells you to retreat, shrink your life so it can be controlled and carefully managed, or limit your relationships so you can't be hurt.

The crazy thing is that the fear doesn't go away. Your world shrinks, but the fear doesn't.

In my new book, A Story on Purpose, I use the image of driving a car with fear as a passenger. Sometimes, fear is in the front seat with you. On other days, it is stuffed in the trunk. You can never kick fear out of the car completely, but you must make sure it never takes the wheel!

If you live a good life, you will do new things, take risks, and face the unknown. Learn to see fear as a gift, reminding you that you are growing as a person and expanding your life. Over time, fear will take the backseat more often.

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." - Dale Carnegie

😰 Minute 2 - Three Cs of fear.

πŸ‘Œ Minute 3 - Three things to do when fear takes the wheel.

  • Ask. When you’re weighing the option of doing something or not, you need to ask the big question: What will happen if I do it? Making that phone call, asking for that raise, or pushing through one more rep will not kill you. Sometimes, you need only thirty seconds of insane courage to change your life.
  • See. We might never cure world hunger, and fear will remind you of that over and over if you have begun a quest to help. Imagine all those who keep suffering if you allow fear to stop you on day one. Seeing what could never happen if you don’t push through your fear is daunting: you may never get married, enjoy financial freedom, obtain inner peace, or help others if you do not go through fear.
  • Do. Courage is found in those who are fearful and do it anyway. Fear often tells us exactly what to do, so don’t run away. Let it guide you to its demise.
