✨ Minute 1 - The magical power of glitter dust.

As a pastor, I've been asked a lot lately whether all the chaos in the world is a sign that the end is nigh or if we should expect the return of Jesus anytime soon. It's a question that's on many minds, especially with the heartbreaking news of the rising death toll in Israel, affecting innocent civilians, including Americans, Jews, and children.

But amidst these difficult times, let's talk about something that can bring a little light to our lives – the magical power of glitter dust.

I hate glitter, but positive emotions have a magical feature: they allow us to sprinkle glitter dust all over an activity, a place, a person, or a thing. Good feelings trigger a whole bunch of neurochemicals that lead you to really, really like whatever caused it. It's like when you crave something you love, be it a chocolate cake or looking at the cute girl sitting across from you.

Here is the trick: this glitter dust can lead us up or down.

When we sprinkle it on things that are good for us, like finding a form of exercise we adore, it becomes a magnetic force that pulls us in, creating an upward spiral of motivation. Glitter gets everywhere. You can't separate yourself.

Unfortunately, our neurochemicals aren't picky; they just want more of what they like, whether it's a healthy habit, an extra slice of chocolate cake, or Fox News.

Where we decide to sprinkle our glitter dust can determine whether we live in an upward or downward spiral world. So, if you want to build habits that serve your goals and put you in a better mindset, put your glitter in the right places.

Which brings us back to the atrocities many of us are witnessing on the news. Where you put your glitter dust has enormous implications on what you see, how you feel and ultimately the way you live.

In a world where the future seems uncertain, remember that you have the power to choose where you sprinkle your glitter dust.

Small choices lead us to brighter days. Write the following phrase on a small piece of paper: I change best by feeling good, not by feeling bad.

πŸ““ Minute 3 - An easy exercise to be more positive.

One thing you can begin doing today is listing out things you are grateful. This is called gratitude journaling.

Here is what it looks like:

  1. Set Aside Time: Dedicate a specific time each day for gratitude journaling. It could be in the morning to start the day with a positive mindset or in the evening to reflect on the day's blessings.
  2. Choose a Journal: You can use a physical journal, a digital document, or even a dedicated app for this purpose.
  3. Write Three Things: Each day, write down three things you're grateful for. These can be simple or significant, from a beautiful sunrise to a supportive friend or for saying "no" to watching the news today.
  4. Elaborate: For each item, elaborate on why they're grateful for it. This allows you to deeply connect with you feeling of gratitude.
  5. Make It a Habit: Consistency is key. Do this exercise daily for at least a few weeks to start experiencing the positive effects.

By regularly practicing gratitude journaling, you can "sprinkle their glitter dust" on the positive aspects of their lives, foster a more positive outlook, and develop a habit that contributes to an upward spiral of motivation and well-being.
